A Chef's Journey
My name is Michael Anderson, I have been cooking food for people since I was 9 years old. My brother, sister and I had to cook for our family one night a week. These are my first memories in the kitchen.I remember working as a dishwasher in my first restaurant watching the Chef and saying to myself I want to do that.
With experience and travel, my passion for food grew over the years. The adrenaline rush I got from working in restaurants fed my competitive nature. I acknowledged that a formal culinary education is important for any Chef, and I recognized the best experience is to travel. I worked at various levels in kitchens all over North America and the Caribbean. I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York and then started my professional career in New York City. My love for the outdoors lead me to Vail, Colorado where I was an Executive Chef, and ultimately here to Canmore, Alberta to realize my dream to open my own Private Chef/Catering company.
I have been taught that being a good Chef is more than just being a good cook – you have to be a problem solver, a manager, an accountant, an artist, and you have to have great relationships with customers. I am grateful to be passionate about my work and I live by the words passed on to me from a wise man while learning to bake bread:
